What are the Inklings up to in August 2018?
July was a busy month for me generally (lots of business travel)...I also actaully looked into volunteering at a local Game Company to learn their SDLC, but I never ended up sending that email.
Can you believe we left LotRO as a mass 4 years ago? Those of us on GW2 are mostly taking a break, however, a few are still playing there, and I am sure I will return at some point.
Below, I have listed the known games we have various Inks playing, but this month I am featuring two games.
Chronicle of Elyria & Dauntless.
I still believe this game will change the industry (kinda like ordering a steak at the movie theatres did)...anyway...this month they kicked off their first interactive community event. It is called: The Searing Plague. The way the community at large interacts and what they decide to do to hold back or not hold back the plague will have historical, geographical, and interactive consequences to the game. The Devs have made it clear (even beyond this event) that players will all contribute to the histroy and 10-year story of CoE. This is a big version of that (versus a star being named after me...). What is also great about this event is that if you have registered, but not bought a package, you actually are a plague victum, and this means we need to cure you...and if you obtain 180 purity seals, you can buy a package...yes...for free. However, getting 180 seals (while not hard) requires participation and collaboration (you cannot solo it Loc).
I have also posted some items I saved from some dialog with the lead designer, it should reveal a bit more of how differently these devs think. As a reminder, I bought a Count package, which means I run a county (called Inklingshire) in a Duchy to whom I have already sword loyalty under the Kingdom of Ashland (there are only 5 Kingdoms per server).
Map selection is coming soon, and probably Alpha I before the year end, so, it's a great time to get involved, and soon I will be building a new website, new coat of arms, and a new Guild Sign for Trotter & Tollers.
You can find some of my other posts here.
This is a Slayer/Hunter game...and it comes on the heals of the very successful Monster Hunter World, which also hit PC this month (it had been on console previously). While its graphics, tone, and action combat may not suit all Inks, it is fun, to the point, and basically is a private party scaling lair raid boss type fight. It scales up, and crafting is the tiering, but bring you dodge shoes, your timing for combos, and then just get to the point, FIGHT THE BOSS.
Here Bel and Wise (Py was taking a play out of Loc's "How to treat your keyboard playbook" with his entire Win10 PC around this time)...are running toward an enraged Behomoth. You can see our health bars. Naturally, Bel is good at anything he does, I think the game kept scoring him "Gold Place."
Games we are playing
- Divinity Original Sin 2
- Guild Wars 2
- Lord of the Rings Online
- Shadow of Mordor
Games we are watching
- Chronicle of Elyria
- New World
If you would like me to feature you in an upcoming article, please post on our forums or send me a mail and I will pull it together. We are constantly on our forums here, still in teamspeak and generally geeking out on something.
Inklings was founded in 2007 and still rolling...
